Welcome! The Family Tree information on this web site is primarily focused on the descendants of the MARCH family who originated from the rural village of Pylle (pronounced pill by the locals) in the county of Somerset, England during the first half of the 17C.
However, the ancestral information available on this site also relates to other March families and their relatives, whose origins can be traced to the United Kingdom. Under "Family History", "March Population" (from the side bar menu), there is an overview of all the March individuals within England and Wales during the second half of the 19C, as well as a more detailed overview of the March families in Somerset. In addition, there are place holders for March families with ancestors from other geographical locations. It is almost certain that all present day March families in the UK are all descendants of the families recorded in the UK census returns. Whether all of the March families across the country are related remains to be determined!
This web site welcomes any March individual who wishes to share their family history in order to enhance the genealogical information which is currently available to all relatives. In addition to this Internet Site, there is a DVD containing additional (non-public) information ref. "Help", "DVD Availability" (from the side bar menu).
While many March families remained in Pylle {recorded as Pull then Pyle and from 1823 as Pylle} through to the present day, a great number of families moved away as the economic and political picture of England changed over the past 200 years. Todate, relatives have been traced to Glamorganshire, Breconshire, Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire, Hertforshire, Middlesex, Surrey, London, Essex and Kent - as well as America. The March branch of the family tree from which Sarah Kathryn March (to whom this site is dedicated) is descended, moved from Pylle to Holcombe in Somerset druing the late 18C and subsequently at the end of the 19C moved from Holcombe to Coleford to Leigh Upon Mendip to Clutton and then to South Wales. The March grandparents who married in Birmingham, then moved to Glasgow, and subsequently settled in Hertfordshire. Sarah's parents who married in Altrincham in Cheshire, lived in Surrey, then moved to Saudi Arabia, and are now settled in Wiltshire where Sarah was born and still lives...
The earliest known direct blood line relative (34th generation) was born over 1,000 years ago in circa 1010!
The following additional totals are for all the other March strongholds who are as yet not traced to a common ancestry with the March line from Pylle, Somerset, England.
